My camera confusion

26 Oct

So it’s time for me to let go of my old camera and buy a new one.
Thanks to snapsort (was able to find this via a Techiebuzz post), I was able to shortlist 4 cameras for under $400 (this is my max limit…)

Since I already have a nice camcorder, I am just looking for a camera to take pictures; the movie recording does’nt matter.

I am not a big camera guru, so I have just listed few basic pros and cons.
Here’s my list

Nikon Coolpix P100
Pros:

  • nice zoom 26x ♥
  • continuous shooting 10 fsp (just a cool thing that might come in handy)

Cons:

  • 10 MP
  • Bit costly around $329

Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
Pros:

  • Awesome zoom 35x ♥
  • Flip out screen (good to take self pictures)
  • 14MP ♥

Cons:

  • continuous shooting only 1.1 fsp 😦
  • Very costly around $399 😦

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5
Pros:

  • continuous shooting 10 fsp
  • Has a GPS (but not sure how much I will use this)
  • Bit cheaper around $299

Cons:

  • 10 MP
  • No flip out screen

Nikon Coolpix S8100
Pros:

  • 12 MP 🙂
  • continuous shooting 10 fsp
  • Bit cheaper around $299

Cons:

  • No flip out screen
  • Not sure how popular this is since it has been launched not long ago

So all you camera pros out there, please comment and help me choose a winner or let me know if there is a more better option out there.

Should I have one more drink?

12 Oct

Weekend is a time to enjoy and have fun. But after some time, the ground starts to turn, you start to sing and dance like you are the best in the world; sometimes even become a philosopher. That, my friend, is the time when you start to get drunk.

Whenever I think that I am in this crisis and am not sure if I should have another drink or not, I ask these few simple questions to myself, select the answer and check the score at the end.

Should I have one more drink???

Q1: How do you cook a chicken? (No offense to veggie lovers, but I love to eat chicken)
A: I don’t know how to cook a chicken, I just order from a restaurant.
Means: Good. I am not drunk. I must order some chicken before I start
B: I don’t know how to cook chicken, but one of these days I will learn how to cook chicken and make a delicacy all by myself and invite all my friends over for a treat.
Means: Stop dreaming. I am starting to get a bit emotional and also a bit drunk. But few more drinks won’t harm
C: Buy a chicken. Get the chicken drunk. Cook the chicken. Eat the Chicken. This way I am eating and getting drunk at the same time, how awesome is that.
Means: Yeah Houdini, Nice idea. Just one more drink and you are done
D: Chicken….. chicken…Nice chicken. Why whyyyyyy this happened to me?? Sometime back the chicken was on my plate and now where did it go… It was such a good chicken.
Means: I ordered a chicken (refer A) and finished that. Now I am missing a CHICKEN (WTF). I am drunk and should sleep now

Q2: Is tomorrow a working day?
A: No
B: Maybe
C: Yes
D: I don’t know… who cares.
Means: Sure sign of drunk ME.

Q3: While drinking with friends, is anyone other than me talking?
A: Yes, we are discussing something, maybe about girls or video games or movies because that is what guys do.
Means: I have just started to drink. It’s OK to have more
B: Yes, we are discussing something, maybe about politics or financial situation of the country and how we can improve it by drinking alcohol.
Means: Me and my friends are starting to get drunk.. I should stop after some time.
C: No, it’s only me. I just finished singing a song
Means: I am drunk, but my friends are still there to take care of me. So I can have one more drink.
D: Everyone is talking at the same time. Few of them even dancing on the tune of the songs they singing themselves.
Means: STOP drinking. I am drunk and so are my friends. Now I cannot rely on friends to take care of me.

Q4: Am I paying for the drinks?
A: It’s a party (office party, bachelor party, New Year party…)
Means: Have some more … you are supposed to get drunk on these occasions.
B: No, some other person whom I hate is paying.
Means: Drink a lot and make sure that the other person pays a lot.
C: No, my good friends are paying.
Means: Get only one more drink because usually friends ask for money. After all, that’s what friends are for.
D: Yes.
Means: Don't spend too much.

Q5: Is the earth beneath me moving and am I seeing more than one copy of the same person (clones)
A: NO.
Means:WOW, I am not drunk.
B: Yes, the earth below me is moving, but I can’t see any clones.
Means: I have started to get drunk, maybe one more drink might not harm.
C: The earth never stops moving. So technically I am moving. But I am standing also at the same time, so I am moving as well as standing…..hey look all my friends came with their clones.. how cool is that.
Means: Stop drinking stupid...I have become a philosopher and have started seeing clones. Need to STOP before I throw up.
D: None of the above, but somehow I don’t remember what was the last drink I had. Somehow, I still have the taste of my first drink in my mouth…
Means: Congrats I have just puked…

Score:
If the answers are,
Mostly A: The party is still ON
Mostly B: Few more drinks. The party has just started.
Mostly C: OK. One small nice drink and I am done with it
Mostly D: I am totally drunk, Must GO TO SLEEP.

So there it is, simple but effective 🙂

My PJ Shayaries

26 Sep

Here is a list of some of my famous original shayaris/poems just for fun.

You wanna take some rest and want nothing to do,
You wanna take some rest and want nothing to do,
then have my hand cooked food a plate or two.
(you will surely fall sick and then have nothing to do)

Monday to Thursday is a pain in the butt.
So I prefer to keep my mouth shut.
Friday to Sunday I don’t like to commute.
So I prefer to have some Absolut

I know that they are not good even for a PJ, but I will try to improve and write better PJs

Honey, I can Cook..

20 Sep

Before coming to US, I was a terrible cook. Maggi and instant noodles were my best friends (as mentioned in my earlier post here)
But I don’t know what has happened to me since I came here, I have been cooking all these dishes and its like I discovered my unknown talent.

Let’s just compare my cooking skills.

    Before coming to US

  1. Bhurji
  2. Omelets
  3. Half fry
  4. Maggi (the best)
  5. Tea
  6. Tomato Bhaji
  7. Sandwich

yup, that’s it.. nothing apart from this.

    After coming to US

  1. Bhurji
  2. Omelets
  3. Half fry
  4. French Toast
  5. Maggi (the best)
  6. Tea
  7. Sandwich
  8. Toast sandwich (the tricky part is the stuffing used inside)
  9. Kichidi
  10. Dal rice
  11. Varan
  12. Chapati (ofcourse ready made)
  13. Tomato sabji
  14. Masoor dry
  15. Masoor Gravy
  16. Potato sabji
  17. Potato Onion Tomato sabji
  18. Bread Chivda (was a disaster dish)

Phew.. that was a long list.
18-7=11 approx 150% increase… wow.. are you kidding me.. that’s great. (I did not use calculator for this. I am good at Math)

So I found out that I can cook, (found this out the hard way) after doing some experiments and ofcourse with some good help and advice from my lovely wife.
She used to tell me in calls and emails about how to do and what to and the most important what NOT to DO

List of what NOT to do:

  1. Never add water while making Bread Chivda, it turns all mushy instead of dry
  2. Never add salt hastily, turns out that you can add salt later but cant remove salt any way (U can but why to work more).
  3. Adding egg in dal rice (if dal rice is less in quantity) won’t increase the quantity and will not taste good.
  4. Adding egg in anything is NOT a good solution except for when it is egg curry.
  5. DO NOT eat egg everyday, it has lot of heat
  6. While giving tadka without onions, if the stuff turns a bit black (or dark brown) DO NOT throw it away, it is supposed to be like that
  7. While giving tadka again without onions, if the stuff turns a more black, lower the gas, it works. No need to eat burnt stuff

So finally, I feel good that I have finally learned to cook and somehow it tastes good. :))

Very IMPORTANT note to WIFE:
Sheetal, if you are reading this, the all the stuff written above is a work of fiction and I am NOT a good cook no mater whoever says so.
You are a very good cook and keep on cooking the wonderful stuff you make.

Good or Bad: Travlleing Alone after marriage

29 Aug

I am writing this post from my personal experience…. I was married few months ago and I was asked to travel to US for some months… Now I was faced with 2 choices

  • Go to USA leaving the comfort of my home, family, friends and the most my wife…
  • Reject the offer and stay back knowing that this kind of offer might not come again anytime soon….
  • So after much delima, discussions and thought, I finally decide to go to USA…

Was it a Good decision or a Bad decision???
Well, now here I am and it’s been a month since I went to USA and I am writing this post to get the answer…

Pros of travelling to USA (since I travelled to USA)

    • I am in USA
    • I learned cooking
(Trust me. Cooking was an alien thing to me. Ready to Eat and Maggi were my best friend… but I have learned a lot)
    • Drink some alcohol since I am away from my wife and I feel sad
    • Since I don’t have a vehicle and use public transport… it helps to lose SOME pounds
    • Get lot of time to think straight and set my priorities
    • Earning a bit more. So good chance to save some money to spend when I get back 🙂
Cons of travelling to USA (since I travelled to USA)

    • Missing my wife
    • I am in USA but everyone who matter to me are back home, so am not there to take care of them and support them. Sometimes I even missed few events here and there…
    • Pubs and Clubs are there but I like to party with my wife. She is not here with me to party so the parties are not as lively as they used to be
    • Missing my wife a lottttt
      Other silly but important Cons

    • I learned cooking… but obviously the food was not that good, it was eatable. Also very important point that after I go back home, everyone will expect me to cook and unluckily if the food turns out to be good at that time then I can expect more of such cooking days.
    • When I go back home, everyone (and I mean everyone) will expect that I bring something from here, which is by the way impossible. I mean, we are talking money here; I can get chocolates for everyone. 😉
    • When I go back, everyone will think that I am a multi millionaire. Although this can be good for my reputation, but multi millionaire… yeah that’s a good one.

So to summarize, in my case, it was not a good decision to travel alone so early after marriage but I am trying to make the best of this situation.
With my wife supporting me in every way, I am enjoying this long distance relationship till I get back home….

    My TO DO list

    29 May

So less time and sooo many things to do…

The best way to start off  a day in such a disaster case would be to create a TO DO list. OK, so let me start my day by creating one for me. (I know its past 12 in the afternoon, but on weekends, the day starts only after 12 😉 )

(Thank GOD for this wonderful day where I will finally create a list of things TO Do ;)))) )

My Things to DO (That I HAVE TO DO and not just list down)

    • Prepare for SQL certification
    • DO not forget to update blog ;)))
    • Search for Home
    • Discuss on startups, research and finalize (shortlist from  the ones I have in my mind) and start working (VVVV IMP)
    • Organise / backup my desktop and laptop
    • Close SIP

Ok so now I have created the immediate TO DO, I have to start working. But first I have to search a widget for this and add this in the widget (for easy access), so here we go …. :))

    Started with WordPress

    28 May

hummm…. so I have started with a wordpress blog.. now lets see what I can do with this over the weekend….. I think.. will try to organize my most common links in a single place… :)))
