My PJ Shayaries

26 Sep

Here is a list of some of my famous original shayaris/poems just for fun.

You wanna take some rest and want nothing to do,
You wanna take some rest and want nothing to do,
then have my hand cooked food a plate or two.
(you will surely fall sick and then have nothing to do)

Monday to Thursday is a pain in the butt.
So I prefer to keep my mouth shut.
Friday to Sunday I don’t like to commute.
So I prefer to have some Absolut

Arrey baapreee, kitni lambhi hai yeh sadak
Arrey baapreee, kitni lambhi hai yeh sadak
Chalo dosto ho jayeee ek chai garma garam kadak

Tumhe dekh kar rooz mera dil hota hai shake up
Tumhe dekh kar rooz mera dil hota hai shake up
Aise rooz rooz badla na karo tum apna make up

hum hai hi aise first class cheez
hum hai hi aise first class cheez
jab bhi karange shaadi lenge ek brand new merceedez
(just kidding… I am against dowry)

tumhari baato se din hai mera dhalta
tumhari baato se din hai mera dhalta
kal subhe 7 baje call karna, mera alarm nahi chalta.

(This One is actually true)
Sun rises in East and Sets in West,
Sun rises in East and Sets in West.
My wife’s cooking is better than the best.
And mine is no where compared to the rest

I know that they are not good even for a PJ, but I will try to improve and write better PJs

Himen @ About.me

22 Sep

Recently I created a profile at About.me. I was curious what this is all about. At first,I thought it would be just like one of those services that would link all of my social accounts at one place.
But after looking at what it I had to offer, I was impressed.
It allowed me to create a page about me (just like the name suggested)

My About.me Page (check it out here)

My Dashboard

(of course there is nothing on the dashboard, I created it just some time back)

The about me page allows user to create a page, write a short biography, upload an image, add links to twitter, facebook, wordpress and many more pages
The interface is simple and pretty easy to use.
And most of all, a statistics dashboard is provided to track the page clicks.

About.Me is pretty good although it is still in beta mode. I cant wait to see what more features this thing has to offer.

Using IE, I tried to upload an image, but was not able to see it even if it was uploaded. The site also pops up lot of script errors for IE. (Well I don’t blame the site, everyone knows its the browser ;).
Everything works pretty smooth in Firefox.

Altogether, it is a good way to promote yourself or your brand.

Honey, I can Cook..

20 Sep

Before coming to US, I was a terrible cook. Maggi and instant noodles were my best friends (as mentioned in my earlier post here)
But I don’t know what has happened to me since I came here, I have been cooking all these dishes and its like I discovered my unknown talent.

Let’s just compare my cooking skills.

    Before coming to US

  1. Bhurji
  2. Omelets
  3. Half fry
  4. Maggi (the best)
  5. Tea
  6. Tomato Bhaji
  7. Sandwich

yup, that’s it.. nothing apart from this.

    After coming to US

  1. Bhurji
  2. Omelets
  3. Half fry
  4. French Toast
  5. Maggi (the best)
  6. Tea
  7. Sandwich
  8. Toast sandwich (the tricky part is the stuffing used inside)
  9. Kichidi
  10. Dal rice
  11. Varan
  12. Chapati (ofcourse ready made)
  13. Tomato sabji
  14. Masoor dry
  15. Masoor Gravy
  16. Potato sabji
  17. Potato Onion Tomato sabji
  18. Bread Chivda (was a disaster dish)

Phew.. that was a long list.
18-7=11 approx 150% increase… wow.. are you kidding me.. that’s great. (I did not use calculator for this. I am good at Math)

So I found out that I can cook, (found this out the hard way) after doing some experiments and ofcourse with some good help and advice from my lovely wife.
She used to tell me in calls and emails about how to do and what to and the most important what NOT to DO

List of what NOT to do:

  1. Never add water while making Bread Chivda, it turns all mushy instead of dry
  2. Never add salt hastily, turns out that you can add salt later but cant remove salt any way (U can but why to work more).
  3. Adding egg in dal rice (if dal rice is less in quantity) won’t increase the quantity and will not taste good.
  4. Adding egg in anything is NOT a good solution except for when it is egg curry.
  5. DO NOT eat egg everyday, it has lot of heat
  6. While giving tadka without onions, if the stuff turns a bit black (or dark brown) DO NOT throw it away, it is supposed to be like that
  7. While giving tadka again without onions, if the stuff turns a more black, lower the gas, it works. No need to eat burnt stuff

So finally, I feel good that I have finally learned to cook and somehow it tastes good. :))

Very IMPORTANT note to WIFE:
Sheetal, if you are reading this, the all the stuff written above is a work of fiction and I am NOT a good cook no mater whoever says so.
You are a very good cook and keep on cooking the wonderful stuff you make.

Music: Pandora is good but Grooveshark is better

10 Sep

When you are all alone in a hotel room and have tons of stuff to do or just want relax, Music is the answer you are looking for. Well, I was also in this situation few weeks ago. I had already heard about Pandora, so started using that as my online source or music.

Pandora helped me to quench my thirst for songs. The song list provided by pandora according to my preferences is very nice and I really stumbled upon some nice songs. But I wanted to save those songs and listen to them over and over again. So I googled some more and came across Grooveshark.

After using Grooveshark, I just fell in love with it. I have listed a few things I just love about Grooveshark

  • The interface (page) is really eye catching and simple to use
  • I can create multiple playlist, search and add songs to the list
  • It keeps a track of my last played songs so that the next time, I can just listen to my last played the songs
  • I can select songs from the most popular songs of the day or week.
  • No annoying ads between songs (like Pandora)

Apart from all the good features, the most distinct feature that kept me coming back rather than going to Pandora was the sound quality. Yup, the sound quality is definitely better than Pandora and I love it.
As always, all good things have drawbacks, and over here I feel that although Grooveshark has the radio option available, it is not as good as that of Pandora. Pandora searches and plays the songs as per my preferences and believe me it plays really good songs. I think that is why Pandora is more popular than Grooveshark.

For me Grooveshark does all the hard work and I just sit back and enjoy 🙂

I also find a nice comparison, check it out spotify-vs-grooveshark-vs-pandora
